In today’s newsletter, we'll spotlight the founding story of The Wonderful Company by Stewart and Lynda Resnick. This extraordinary couple has built an empire of successful businesses and made a significant impact on the lives of many through their philanthropic efforts.

The Beginning: A Fruitful Partnership

The Wonderful Company, previously known as Roll Global, was born out of the incredible partnership between Stewart and Lynda Resnick. This power couple met while attending the University of Pennsylvania, and after marrying in 1959, they began their entrepreneurial journey together.

In the early years, the Resnicks focused on a variety of enterprises, including a security business and a floral delivery service. However, the turning point in their careers came in 1979 when they acquired Teleflora, a floral wire service company. This acquisition proved to be the catalyst for what would become a diversified and thriving company.

Branching Out: Growth and Expansion

After achieving success with Teleflora, Stewart and Lynda turned their attention to other industries. In 1984, they purchased Franklin Mint, a collectibles company. Although the company faced challenges initially, the Resnicks restructured its operations and transformed it into a profitable business.

The couple's foray into the world of agriculture began in the late 1980s, when they acquired a pistachio and almond farm in California's Central Valley. This marked the beginning of their venture into the food and beverage industry. In 1993, they launched the well-known brand, Wonderful Pistachios, which quickly gained popularity across the United States.

A Wonderful Transformation

The Resnicks continued to expand their business, acquiring assets such as POM Wonderful, a pomegranate juice brand, in 2002, and Fiji Water, a bottled water company, in 2004. These acquisitions laid the foundation for their company's transformation into The Wonderful Company in 2015.

Under the new brand, the Resnicks have continued to make strides in the food and beverage industry. They have added several more brands to their portfolio, including Wonderful Halos, mandarin oranges, and JUSTIN Wines, a premium wine producer.

A Lasting Legacy: Philanthropy and Environmental Stewardship

Stewart and Lynda Resnick have not only built a successful company but have also dedicated themselves to philanthropy and environmental conservation. Over the years, they have donated millions of dollars to various causes, such as education, healthcare, and the arts.

The Resnick Foundation has supported numerous initiatives, including the creation of the Resnick Sustainability Institute at Caltech and the Lynda and Stewart Resnick Pavilion at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).

Moreover, The Wonderful Company is committed to sustainable agriculture, water conservation, and reducing their carbon footprint. Their efforts have led to significant advancements in efficient water use, waste reduction, and the use of renewable energy sources.

In Conclusion

The founding story of The Wonderful Company is, indeed, a tale of unwavering determination, innovation, and vision. Stewart and Lynda Resnick have built a business empire that not only delivers high-quality products but also positively impacts the lives of countless people through their philanthropic work.
