Founding of Momofuku

Momofuku was founded by David Chang, a talented chef with a passion for reimagining the culinary landscape. The seed was sown in 2004 with the inception of Momofuku Noodle Bar in the East Village of New York City. The name 'Momofuku' translates as 'lucky peach' in Japanese, which aptly symbolizes our journey - one that is filled with luck, perseverance, and a love for food.

The Inspiration behind the Noodles

Chang's concept for Momofuku Noodle Bar was influenced by his time in Japan and his exposure to the country's rich ramen culture. He desired to bring something different, something special to the American food scene. With a modest menu and an intimate setting, the Noodle Bar was an instant hit, serving innovative bowls of ramen and pork buns that were unlike anything New York had seen before.

The Evolution of Momofuku

The success of the Noodle Bar paved the way for the expansion of the Momofuku brand. Chang's creativity and courage to experiment with flavors led to the opening of more acclaimed restaurants, including Momofuku Ssäm Bar, Momofuku Ko, and Momofuku Seiōbo. Each restaurant presents a unique culinary experience, showcasing Chang's talent for pushing boundaries and transforming simple ingredients into extraordinary dishes.

The Momofuku of Today

Today, the Momofuku group has grown into a culinary empire, with restaurants across New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. We have also expanded into home cooking products and nationwide shipping, making it possible for our customers to recreate their favorite Momofuku dishes at home. All of this has been possible because of your support and our shared love for exceptional food.
