In this edition of our newsletter, we look at a company that took a different angle to selling bath bombs and has grown to a sizeable business.
The Birth of an Idea
In 2012, the idea of DA Bomb Bath Bombs was born in the minds of two young sisters, Isabel and Caroline Bercaw. Their shared love for fun baths sparked an interest in creating hand-made bath bombs. They wanted to provide a bath experience that was not just about getting clean, but also about having a fun experience with a surprise in every bomb.
From Kitchen Experiments to Business Ventures
The sisters started experimenting in their kitchen, using basic ingredients like baking soda and citric acid to create fizzy bath bombs. They added a unique twist to their products by hiding a surprise toy inside each bath bomb. This simple, yet innovative idea, was the beginning of a successful business venture.
The Journey to Success
Their bath bombs became a hit in the local farmers market and soon, they were selling out every week. This early success led the Bercaw sisters to officially launch DA Bomb Bath Bombs in 2013. With the help of their parents, Kim and Ben Bercaw, the girls started pitching their products to local stores.
Breaking into the Retail Industry
DA Bomb Bath Bombs' big break came in 2015 when they landed a deal with a regional retailer. The retailer was impressed with the quality of the bath bombs and the unique selling proposition of a surprise in every bomb. The bath bombs were soon on the shelves in hundreds of stores across the country.
Today's DA Bomb Bath Bombs
Today, DA Bomb Bath Bombs are available in thousands of retail locations across the United States, including large retailers like Target and Ulta. Despite the growth, the Bercaw sisters remain committed to their original promise of hand-made, high-quality bath bombs, crafting each one with love and care in their Minnesota-based factory.
